TOP 2 MOST ASKED QUESTIONS

1.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I TAN? & WHAT IF I'M ALREADY TAN?

For camouflage tattoo, we need your skin to be it's natural shade, no tan or spray tan, so we can properly color match your skin. We prefer not to color match or tattoo tanned skin.

But what happens if you tan after you've been camouflaged?

Your skin will tan, but the camouflaged stretchmarks will stay the color of the color-matched tattoo. This means that the tattooed areas will not darken like your healthy skin does, however, it will be less of a contrast than before you had camouflage.

**Note: Inkless Tattoo encourages the natural structure of the skin to heal, improving appearance and, in some people, allowing the skin to regain its natural color melanin.

2.

IS THIS SUITABLE FOR ALL SKIN TONES & TYPES?

Absolutely, this treatment is suitable for for all skin tones, but it's important to note that it may not be appropriate for everyone. To be eligible for camouflage tattoo, your stretch marks and scars need to be fully healed, at least a year old, and lighter than your surrounding skin tone.

To ensure this treatment is right for you, we require all potential clients to schedule a virtual consultation. This step helps us assess your specific needs, understand how you tend to heal, and to make sure our services are the right choice for for you.

**If your scar is still in the healing phase, you may be a good candidate for Scar Release/Relaxation.

WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS LIKE, &
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?

How long until I'm healed?

The healing and longevity of results from Scar, Stretch Mark tattoo can vary significantly due to individual factors such as age, diet, hormonal balance, general health, skin undertones, and sun exposure. It's challenging to specify an exact healing timeframe due to these variables. Typically, the average healing period spans 45-60 days. However, if you're prone to hyperpigmentation or naturally scar darker, the healing process may extend beyond this period. During your consultation, we'll evaluate your skin's unique characteristics to provide a more personalized estimate of your healing timeline.

There is no downtime right after your session, allowing most clients to return to work or travel on the same day as their treatment.

It's common to notice some redness and swelling for the first 1-3 days post-procedure. After your session, we'll provide you with detailed guidance on reducing inflammation, accelerating the healing process, and proper methods for icing and cleansing the treated area. As your skin progresses through the healing stages over the following weeks, you'll observe the redness gradually fading, transitioning through various shades from darker to lighter until full healing is achieved.

We will maintain close communication with you during your recovery.

What results can I expect?

It's important to note that, as with any tattoo, the appearance may evolve over time due to changes in skin elasticity and melanin production, particularly as we age. This natural progression may also influence the appearance of your camouflage tattoo. While some clients may not require touch-ups, others might find it necessary after 5-6 years to maintain the desired effect, considering that stretch marks are a form of scar and the skin in these areas can be more challenging to work with.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR APPOINTMENT

Is the Scar and Stretch Mark Camouflage Treatment Painful?
What does it feel like during the procedure?

woman receiving smr treatment mid procedure

For those who have already had a tattoo, you're familiar with the sensation. For newcomers to tattooing, on a scale of 1-10, most clients rate the discomfort around a 5 or 6. This will depend on your pain tolerance, the sensitivity of the area being tattooed, and, for ladies, we recommend not getting tattooed during a menstrual cycle, as this tends to heighten skin sensitivity.

We do not use numbing cream to ensure the highest quality and precision in pigment implantation into the scar tissue.

What is the duration of a typical session?

Typically 1-3 hours per area. We hope you'll find our studio relaxing and inviting. There will be smiling faces, good music, delicious snacks & beverages for you, but we also invite you to bring your phone/earbuds to listen to your preferred music, or listen to a podcast or watch a movie to pass the time. Believe it or not, some people have fallen asleep during a session and that's okay too!

OUR COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE

At RESTORE Camouflage Studio, we are committed to providing a safe and professional experience for our clients. Camouflage tattooing is a process as safe as traditional tattooing, especially when performed by a skilled and well-trained artist. However, it's important to recognize that we are working with compromised skin, which inherently comes with variability in outcomes. Each individual's skin type, scar, stretch mark, genetic makeup, and personal health care practices contribute to the unique healing process and results of the treatment.

While we cannot predict the exact outcome due to these varying factors, we assure you that our approach is rooted in extensive education and training. This commitment to excellence significantly reduces the risk of adverse effects and ensures that we only proceed with treatments when it's in the best interest of your skin's health. We prioritize your well-being and will not perform the procedure on skin that may be further compromised.

It's worth noting that the majority of our clients experience noticeable improvements, a testament to the effectiveness and growing popularity of the treatment. We believe in the transformative power of  tattooing and are dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care, ensuring that your journey with us is both positive and rewarding.

PRE & POST CARE

How Should I Prepare for My Treatment Session?

To prepare for your session effectively, it's important to follow these steps to ensure the best possible outcome and a smooth experience:

  1. Skin Condition:

    • Ensure that the area to be treated is healthy, fully healed, and free from any irritation or sunburn.

  2. Hydration:

    • Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session. Well-hydrated skin can handle the tattooing process better and aids in healing.

  3. Avoid Certain Substances:

    • Refrain from consuming alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications (like aspirin) 24-48 hours before your session, as these can increase bleeding and affect pigment absorption.

  4. Skin Care:

    • Do not apply any lotions, creams, or makeup to the area to be treated on the day of your session.

  5. Comfortable Clothing:

    • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated and won't rub against the tattooed skin afterward.

  6. Nutrition:

    • Eat a healthy meal before your session to keep your blood sugar stable, which can help in managing discomfort and preventing dizziness.

  7. Mental Preparation:

    • Get a good night's sleep before your appointment and come with a positive mindset, ready for your transformation.

  8. Consultation Notes:

    • Review any specific instructions provided during your consultation, as individual needs may vary.

What Post-Treatment Care is Required?

  1. Immediate Care:

    • Keep the treated area clean and dry. Avoid touching the area with unwashed hands to prevent infection.

  2. Cleaning:

    • Gently clean the area with a mild, fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water. Pat dry with a clean, soft towel or let it air dry.

  3. Moisturizing:

    • Apply a thin layer of the recommended healing ointment or cream to the treated area as instructed. This helps in keeping the area hydrated and promotes healing.

  4. Avoid Sun Exposure:

    • Keep the treated area out of direct sunlight. If you must go outside, cover the area with a physical barrier like clothing or use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with high SPF after the initial healing period (usually a few days post-treatment).

  5. No Scratching or Picking:

    • Resist the urge to scratch or pick at the treated area. Let any scabs or flaky skin fall off naturally to prevent scarring or loss of pigment.

  6. Avoid Water Activities:

    • Stay away from swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, and long baths until the area is fully healed.

  7. Physical Activity:

    • Limit strenuous exercise for a few days post-treatment to prevent excessive sweating and irritation in the treated area.

  8. Clothing:

    • Wear loose, comfortable clothing that doesn't rub against the treated area to avoid irritation.

  9. Follow-Up:

    • Attend any scheduled follow-up appointments and touch-up sessions as recommended to achieve the best results.

  10. Monitor Healing:

    • Keep an eye on the treated area for any signs of unusual redness, swelling, or discharge. If you notice anything concerning, contact your provider immediately.

Remember, healing times and specific care instructions can vary based on individual factors and the extent of the treatment. Always follow the personalized advice given during the consultation and post-treatment discussions.
